Bloom Prenatal Care

Pregnancy is a journey! It is both an exciting and challenging time for women and their families. In anticipation of the baby’s arrival, there is planning and preparation to complete and an overabundance of information and resources to sort through. At Bloom, we understand that motherhood takes a village. Through coaching and numerous focus groups, we provide ongoing support throughout your journey. Our focus groups are designed with mothers in mind to help navigate through important topics and issues for new and expecting mothers.

One essential focus group is on the importance of prenatal care and wellness as it plays a critical role in promoting a safe and healthy pregnancy.

What is prenatal care?

Simply put, prenatal care is the healthcare for both mother and child during the pregnancy. Through regular check ups, a healthcare provider monitors both the health of the mother and baby to detect and manage potential health issues early and throughout the pregnancy. Mothers can expect to have their blood sugar levels, blood pressure, and weight gain monitored to ensure they are all within a healthy range. Providers will also check for potential health issues associated with pregnancy like gestational diabetes, anemia, and preeclampsia. Monitoring and early detection is crucial because it allows providers to manage issues effectively and prevent further complications such as preterm birth.

Education and Support

Prenatal care also consists of the invaluable information and resources healthcare providers share. This information includes tips on how to stay active safely, recommendations on nutrition, and prenatal vitamins or supplements, all of which can help maintain the health and well being of mothers and their babies. Families also benefit from prenatal care as it allows for them to have discussions alongside mothers about the childbirth process, newborn care, and parenting. Families and mothers are able to receive advice on concerns or questions as they prepare for the transition of parenthood. Prenatal care helps to build an open and trusting relationship with healthcare providers while mothers and families receive the medical, educational, and emotional support they need.

Prenatal care and wellness is vital to expecting mothers and their families. It promotes a healthy and safe pregnancy, identifies and manages potential health issues early on, prevents preterm birth, builds a supportive relationship with healthcare providers, and helps prepare for childbirth and parenting.
